CHARITY
As a global generosity movement, it occurs annually on the Tuesday following U.S. Thanksgiving, serving as an international day of giving for nonprofits, businesses, and individuals.
2026 Campaign Planning Timeline
Experts recommend starting your Giving Tuesday strategy at least 3–4 months in advance.
- September – October (The Foundation):
- Define SMART Goals: Set specific, measurable targets, such as a dollar amount (e.g., $10,000), a number of new donors, or a volunteer recruitment goal.
- Identify Your Story: Select one compelling, human-centric story rather than just sharing statistics.
- Assemble a Team: Assign roles like a Campaign Manager, Communications Lead, and Volunteer Coordinator.
- Early November (The Build-Up):
- Secure a Matching Gift: Approach major donors or local businesses to sponsor a “match,” which can double the impact and urgency of every donation.
-
- Prep Visual Assets: Create branded social media graphics, email banners, and short-form videos (Reels or TikToks).
- Test Systems: Ensure your donation forms are mobile-friendly, fast, and able to process various payment methods like digital wallets.
- Late November (The Final Countdown):
- Send Teasers: Start notifying your audience via email and social media that your campaign is coming.
- Equip Ambassadors: Provide a “toolkit” (sample posts and graphics) to board members and volunteers so they can fundraise on your behalf via Peer-to-Peer(P2P) campaigns.
